Daniel Reuss studiował pod kierunkiem Barenda Schuurmana w Konserwatorium w Rotterdamie. W 1990 r. został dyrektorem Cappelli Amsterdam, którą przekształcił w pełnoetatowy zespół profesjonalny, obecnie jeden z najbardziej cenionych w Holandii. W latach 2008–2013 był dyrektorem artystycznym oraz głównym dyrygentem Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir. W 2010 r. otrzymał nominację do nagrody Grammy w kategorii „Najlepsze nagranie chóralne” za płytę, którą nagrał z tymi obydwoma zespołami (Golgotha Franka Martina, Harmonia Mundi). Oba chóry pracowały razem także nad nagraniem Stabat Mater i Sept Répons de Ténèbres Poulenca, które ukazało się w 2014 r. (Harmonia Mundi). W latach 2003–2006 Reuss był głównym dyrygentem RIAS Kammerchor w Berlinie – zarejestrował z nim wiele dobrze przyjętych płyt CD. Ich album z utworami Martina i Messiaena (Harmonia Mundi) zdobył Diapason d’Or de l’année 2004 oraz Preis der deutschen Schallplattenkritik. Nagrania Les Noces Strawińskiego, Le vin herbé Martina oraz Salomona Händla również cieszyły się wysokim uznaniem krytyki. We wrześniu 2014 r. ukazała się płyta Warum, z utworami chóralnymi Brahmsa w wykonaniu Cappelli Amsterdam – zdobyła Preis der deutschen Schallplattenkritik w 2015 r. Latem 2006, na zaproszenie Pierre’a Bouleza, Daniel Reuss prowadził zajęcia i dyrygował podczas letniej Akademii Festiwalu w Lucernie.

W lutym 2007 artysta zadebiutował w English National Opera premierą Agrippiny Händla, a w następnym roku pod jego batutą wykonano w La Monnaie w Brukseli Dydonę i Eneasza Purcella. Daniel Reuss jest zapraszany do dyrygowania zespołami kameralnymi i orkiestrami w całej Europie. Wśród nich można wymienić Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin, Ensemble MusikFabrik, Scharoun Ensemble i Radio Filharmonisch Orkest. Od 2015 r. Daniel Reuss jest głównym dyrygentem Ensemble Vocal Lausanne.

Daniel Reuss studied with Barend Schuurman at the Rotterdam Conservatory. In 1990, he became director of Cappella Amsterdam, which he turned into a full-time professional ensemble that is now one of the most sought-after in the Netherlands. From 2008 till 2013 he was also the artistic director and chief conductor of the Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir. In 2010, he was nominated for a Grammy ‘Best Choral Performance’ for the CD he made with the two choirs together (Frank Martin’s Golgotha). The two choirs also worked together in a recording of Stabat Mater and Sept Répons de Ténèbres (Francis Poulenc), released in 2014 by Harmonia Mundi.
From 2003 until 2006 he was a chief conductor of the RIAS Kammerchor in Berlin, with whom he recorded a number of successful CDs. Their CD with works by Martin and Messiaen (released by Harmonia Mundi) won both the Diapason d’or de l’année 2004 and the Preis der deutschen Schallplattenkritik. The CD’s Les Noces, Le vin herbé and Handel’s Solomon have also been critically acclaimed.

In summer 2006, at the invitation of Pierre Boulez, Daniel Reuss teached and conducted at the summer 2006 Lucerne Festival Academy. In February 2007, Reuss made his debut at the English National Opera, with Handel’s Agrippina. In 2008 he directed at De Munt/La Monnaie in Brussels, with the Purcell’s Dido & Aeneas.
In September 2014 the CD Warum, choral works by Brahms, sang by Cappella Amsterdam was released. It won the Preis der deutschen Schallplattenkritik in 2015.
Daniel Reuss has been invited to conduct chamber ensembles and orchestras throughout Europe. Among these may be mentioned the Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin, Ensemble MusikFabrik, Scharoun Ensemble, and the Radio Filharmonisch Orkest.
From 2015 Daniel Reuss is a chief conductor of Ensemble Vocal Lausanne.
