Nicholas Mulroy

Nicholas Mulroy studiował w Clare College w Cambridge i Royal Academy of Music w Londynie. Regularnie występuje w całej Europie z wieloma czołowymi zespołami, w tym z Monteverdi Choir i sir Johnem Eliotem Gardinerem, Les Musiciens du Louvre i Markiem Minkowskim, Le Concert d’Astrée i Emmanuelle Haïm, Gabrieli Consort i Paulem McCreeshem. Koncertuje też z Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, Dunedin Consort, Staatskapelle Dresden, Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra, Royal Scottish National Orchestra, Brussels Philharmonic, Akamus, English Chamber Orchestra, Handel and Haydn Society, BBC Philharmonic, BBC Symphony Orchestra, Copenhagen Philharmonic i Wrocławską Orkiestrą Barokową. Współpracował także z takimi dyrygentami, jak Laurence Cummings, Trevor Pinnock, sir Colin Davis i Nicholas Kraemer.
Angaże operowe artysty to m.in. rola Pierwszej Parki w Hippolyte et Aricie Rameau pod dyrekcją Emmanuelle Haïm w Théâtre du Capitole w Tuluzie oraz Opera National de Paris, rola w Dardanusie Rameau pod batutą Emmanuelle Haïm w Lille, Caen i Dijon, w Koronacji Poppei wystawionej z zespołem opery Glyndebourne w Lille oraz Dijon, rola Septimiusa w Theodorze Händla pod kierownictwem Trevora Pinnocka. W Glyndebourne zadebiutował pod batutą Jurowskiego w Zaręczynach w klasztorze Prokofiewa.
Wśród nagrań dokonanych przez Nicholasa Mulroya warto wymienić wyróżnionego Gramophone Award Mesjasza Händla z Dunedin Consort (Linn), Oratorium Wielkanocne i Actus tragicus J.S. Bacha z Monteverdi Choir oraz English Baroque Soloists pod batutą sir Johna Eliota Gardinera, Nieszpory Monteverdiego z Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment pod dyrekcją Roberta Howartha. Nicolas Mulroy pojawia się też w dwóch wersjach Pasji wg św. Jana J.S. Bacha – jednej nagranej z zespołem Polyphony pod kierunkiem Stephena Laytona, a drugiej z zespołem Dunedin Consort pod dyrekcją Johna Butta (w tej drugiej wersji kreował rolę Ewangelisty).
Ostatnie angaże to Pasja wg św. Mateusza J.S. Bacha z Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra, Oratorium na Boże Narodzenie J.S. Bacha z Netherlands Chamber Choir i Concerto Copenhagen, Pasja wg św. Jana J.S. Nicholas Mulroy studied at Clare College Cambridge and Royal Academy of Music.
He regularly appears with leading ensembles throughout Europe, including Monteverdi Choir with Sir John Eliot Gardiner, Les Musiciens du Louvre with Marc Minkowski, Le concert d’Astrée with Emmanuelle Haïm, Gabrieli Consort with Paul McCreesh as well as concerts with Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, Dunedin Consort, Staatskapelle Dresden, Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra, Royal Scottish National Orchestra, Brussels Philharmonic, Akamus, English Chamber Orchestra, Handel and Haydn Society, BBC Philharmonic and Symphony Orchestra, Copenhagen Philharmonic and Wrocław Baroque Orchestra. Other conductors he has worked with include Laurence Cummings, Trevor Pinnock, Sir Colin Davis and Nicholas Kraemer.
His opera engagements have included Premiere Parque Rameau Hippolyte et Aricie with Emmanuelle Haïm at the Theatre du Capitole Toulouse and Opera National de Paris, Dardanus with Emmanuelle Haïm in Lille, Caen and Dijon, L’incorronazione di Poppea for Glyndebourne on Tour, Opera de Lille and Opera de Dijon and Septimius in Handel Theodora with Trevor Pinnock. He made his Glyndebourne debut under Jurowski in Prokofiev’s Betrothal in a Monastery.
Recordings include a Gramophone Award-winning Messiah with Dunedin Consort on Linn, Bach’s Easter Oratorio and Actus Tragicus with the Monteverdi Choir and English Baroque soloists conducted by John Eliot Gardiner and Monteverdi’s Vespers with the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment directed by Robert Howarth. He also features on two versions of the St John Passion singing the arias for Stephen Layton/Polyphony and Evangelist and arias for John Butt/Dunedin Consort.
Recent engagements include a St Matthew Passion with the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra, a Christmas Oratorio with the Netherlands Chamber Choir and Concerto Copenhagen, St John Passion with the Handel and Haydn Societ, Purcell’s The Fairy Queen with the Royal Danish Opera and Bach’s B minor Mass with Musikcollegium Winterthur. Upcoming projects include a performance of Bach’s St Matthew Passion with the BBC Philharmonic conducted by Nicholas Kraemer and a variety of repertoire with the Dunedin Consort.
He is an Associate of the Royal Academy of Music and a Musician in Residence of Girton College, Cambridge.
