Marcin Wasilewski Trio is one of the brightest stars of the Polish jazz scene, recognised for its unique talent in blending tradition with contemporary sound. The Trio is critically acclaimed as one of Europe’s most outstanding and unique jazz formations of its generation, enjoying warm recognition of jazz fans in Europe and having its own solid position on a jazz scene worldwide. ECM Records will release the 5th album of the Marcin Wasilewski Trio on 14 September 2018. The band will be promoting the Live album on tour in the autumn of  2018, starting with the Polish premiere at the National Forum of Music in Wrocław on 22 September. Anyone who has ever heard Marcin Wasilewski Trio’s music in concert has surely been waiting for this album. After over twenty three years of playing together in a perfect camaraderie, the Trio continues to show its sublime quality. Tenderness and lyricism as well as raw, unchained energy of live performance captured at the Jazz Middelheim created an intimate synergy between the musicians and several thousand listeners gathered that evening in Antwwerp.

In 2019 Marcin Wasilewski, Slawomir Kurkiewicz and Michal Miskiewicz will be celebrating 25 years together on stage.  For 15 years, they were the applauded companion of Tomasz Stańko in his Quartet, recording a number of albums for the ECM Records and performing concerts around the globe.  As Tomasz Stańko says, “…in the entire history of Polish jazz, we’ve never had a band like this one. I’m surprised by these musicians every day. They just keep getting better and better”.

The Trio members have collaborated (as a Trio or separately) with the biggest names in jazz, including artists such as: Charles Lloyd, Al Foster, Branford Marsalis, Jan Garbarek, Joe Lovano, Gianluigi Trovesi, Nils Petter Molvær, John Surman, Louis Sclavis, Arthur Blythe, Bernt Rosengren, Dino Saluzzi, Bobo Stenson, Anders Jormin, Manu Katché, Jon Christensen and more.

”Polish pianist Marcin Wasilewski’s trio is one of the best to appear on the European jazz scene in the past decade.” [The Guardian]
“The Marcin Wasilewski Trio is one of the most important acoustic jazz bands in Europe. Wasilewski, Kurkiewicz and Miśkiewcz are perfectly finding themselves in each of the most risky configurations. Whether it is a partnership cooperation with soloists, or blending in into ideas of other leaders, or finally – not submitting to any opportunistic trends or moods – performing in one of the most demanding and beautiful jazz sets: a standard acoustic jazz trio.” [Dionizy Piątkowski, Polish journalist, jazz critic, promoter, founder and director of “The Era Of Jazz” Festival].
