Born in 1943 in Lwow, Elżbieta Sikora studied sound engineering and composition in Warsaw, then electro-acoustic and computer music in Paris and Stanford. She has worked in prestigious experimental music centers: IRCAM, INA/GRM, IMEB and SEPR. She was a member of KEW, the avant-garde group of composers and has received many important prizes and honours. Elżbieta Sikora has been living and composing in Paris since 1981 and is also very active in Poland’s musical life. The list of her compositions contains more that sixty titles.
In her works Elżbieta Sikora often combines new electronic music technologies with conventional instruments. Her latest opera “Madame Curie” was highly appreciated by critics and was very well received by the public. Her compositions, published by PWM, Chant du Monde and Ariadne Verlag are performed worldwide. Many of them have been released on CD and DVD.
