The Zebra Trio's March programme combines traditional classical works with masterpieces of contemporary music and dance. The concert will open with Mozart’s, beautiful and noble, Three Preludes and Fugues, a favorite of traditionalists. This will be starkly contrasted by Arnold Schoenberg’s String Trio Op. 45, with its dense, volatile nature, full of contrasts, accents and musical "struggle."
The Zebra Trio will also present String Trio op.10 by Jozef Koffler , a Polish composer of Jewish decent born in modern day Ukraine whose work is associated closely with Vienna and Lwow. Koffler worked throughout the first half of the 20th century. He occupies a pioneering and pivotal role in Polish 20th-century music history.
Finally, the Zebra Trio will close the evening with four thrilling, romantic tangos arranged for string trio.
