Description:

At the concert in Poland, Vincent Courtois Trio together with Lutosławski Quartet will present premiere material, commissioned by the 16th Jazztopad Festival.

Vincent Courtois is one of the pillars of the French improvised music community. During more than thirty years of stage activity, this cellist and composer has collaborated with a whole range of great artists - from avant-garde musicains to the famous mainstream jazz personages. Whatever the project in which he participates, Courtois always retains his impossible to emulate musical style..

In Wrocław, Vincent Courtois Trio will perform together with Lutosławski Quartet. The Polish string quartet, as one of the ensembles of the National Forum of Music, is well known to the Wrocław audience, as well as fans of the Jazztopad Festival. In previous editions, Lutosławski Quartet  performed compositions by festival guests, including Vijay Iyer , Benoît Delbecq and Amir ElSaffar, with whom it performed on one stage. On a daily basis, the quartet performs in prestigious halls, presenting a contemporary repertoire, and an important part of its activity is the advocacy of works by Polish composers (including Witold Lutosławski and Karol Szymanowski). Past experience and great reviews show that this leading string quartet fells at home in a repertoire that is a fusion of many genres.
