The performance of polyphonic music requires well-developed melodic hearing. Harmonic hearing combines auditory analysis with the ability to perceive and distinguish chords. Its development is possible only after reaching a good level of melodic hearing, which is developed in the initial teaching phase. Therefore, introducing polyphonic pieces should not cause major difficulties in the choir of children who previously developed their vocal competences based on monophonic music. In this songbook, there are 35 two-part pieces, intended for a cappella or with accompaniment, organized according to the degree of difficulty: from single-part compositions with elements of a double-part to more difficult two-part pieces with dissonant chords. The book ends with three compositions with three-part fragments, introducing the three-part singing. The repertoire included in the songbook consists of previously written works by leading Polish composers and works commissioned by the Choral Academy for the project "Singing Poland". Each song has a number of different musical tasks to be performed by the choristers. Their aim is to consolidate and expand knowledge in the field of music theory and performance, and to make the choristers learn solfege.
