Since the beginning of time artists have tried to capture the emotion of love, thus it is not without reason that Claude Debussy proclaimed "music begins where the word is powerless… music is created for the inexpressible."
Led by Marcin Danilewski, concertmaster of the Wrocław Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra and Paweł Maślanka of the Szczecin Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra, this Valentine themed performance features the Neapolitan favourite O sole mio by Eduardo Di Capui, favored by Luciano Pavarotti and Enrico Caruso, and famously known in the West thru its interpretation by Elvis Presley. The program also includes romantic operettas by Johann Strauss II and Franz Lehár, as well as the cherished violin music by Ludwig van Beethoven. The ensemble will also perform miniatures from the Alt-Wiener Tanzweisen collection, by Fritz Kreisler, adored in European salons at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, in addition to the undeniably romantic Salut d'amour by Edward Elgar, an extraordinary confession of love, which he dedicated to his wife, Caroline.
