“Real splendor… Iranian singer Mahsa Vahdat brought her luxuriant and richly expressive voice to three of her solo songs… these are songs of passion, love and sorrow—emotions that came through vividly. Vahdat’s vocal coloration, at once lush and piercing, and her sinuous turns of melodic phrase made for a riveting showcase.”– San Francisco Chronicle

Known for their collaborations with musicians worldwide from Trio Da Kali (Mali) to Rhiannon Giddens (US), Kronos Quartet unveils one of their most exciting partnerships: Mahsa Vahdat. The acclaimed Iranian singer joins Kronos on tour to perform her compositions based on classical Persian poems by Rumi and Hafez, as well as contemporary literary work by Forough Farrokhzad and Mohammad Ebrahim Jafari.

Arrangements for string quartet by composers Sahba Aminikia and Atabak Elyasi. Kronos and Vahdat plan to record an album produced by the Norwegian record label Kirkelig Kulturverksted. The anticipated release date is in March 2019.
Repertoire includes: “The Sun Will Rise,” “Vanishing Line,” “My Ruthless Companion,” “My place is the Placeless, my trace is the Traceless,” “Oh lover! Go mad, go mad!,” “Eternal meadow,” “Kurdish Song” (arr. Aminikia) and “Dead yet I was, then came to life” (arr. Elyasi).
