Essential Requirements:

• documented collaboration with professional ensembles – including historical ensembles, as instrumentalist and / or conductor,
• spoken and written English at least a very good level
• availability
• very good organisational skills.

Responsibilities:

• preparing a development strategy for the NFM Wrocław Baroque Orchestra,
• rogramming in consultation with the NFM management regarding:
  – own concerts (minimum four per season),
  – collaboration with other ensembles and artists,
  – recording plans for the NFM Wrocław Baroque Orchestra,
• conducting rehearsals to prepare the NFM Wrocław Baroque Orchestra for performing works presented at the NFM and elsewhere,
• conducting auditions for candidates for the NFM Wrocław Baroque Orchestra and advising the NFM management on engaging new musicians,
• coordinating the orchestra’s current work schedule in consultation with the ensemble Manager
• collaborating with the Manager on preparing line-ups for individual programmes,
• selecting soloists for individual vocal and instrumental parts,
• collaborating with the ensemble Manager on financial and organisational matters concerning the NFM Wrocław Baroque Orchestra,
• ensuring the high quality of all presentations of the NFM Wrocław Baroque Orchestra,
• caring for the image of the NFM Wrocław Baroque Orchestra.

Artists interested in the recruitment are asked to submit the following documents by February 28, 2026 (office@nfm.wroclaw.pl):

• A CV with a detailed list of projects completed in the last three years with professional ensembles as an instrumentalist and/or conductor [dates, locations, programmes, performers, role in the project], including CD and DVD recordings [title, year of release, record company, cover scan],
• A letter of intent addressed to the NFM management, a proposal for three concert programmes (60–70 minutes each) – the programmes may include soloists in addition to instrumental works,
• A GDPR declaration.

Selected candidates will be invited to lead rehearsals (a full preparatory cycle) and a concert with the NFM Wrocław Baroque Orchestra during the 2026/2027 season. Each will present one of the programmes submitted in the competition application (this programme will be selected by the NFM management). Following the completion of the project phase, the selected candidate will be asked to submit a draft concept for the ensemble’s development, including an artistic vision, strategic goals, and a plan for their implementation, for NFM management’s approval. This document will form the basis for signing a contract with the Witold Lutosławski National Forum of Music. The new Artistic Director will work with the ensemble for a closed term, the duration of which will be agreed upon with the selected candidate.
