How to get to the National Forum of Music?

The entrance for the audience and the box office are located at Plac Wolności.
You can reach the NFM by public transport from any part of Wrocław. The stops nearest to the venue are:
“Narodowe Forum Muzyki” on Ulica Krupnicza, right next to the NFM building – this is the stop on the side of the service entrance, to reach the audience entrance, please walk along the NFM venue towards Plac Wolności;
“Świdnicka” on Ulica Kazimierza Wielkiego – walk along Świdnicka towards the Monopol Hotel, turn right behind the hotel;
“Opera” on Plac Teatralny – pass the opera building, and you will see the NFM in front of you;
“Renoma” on Ulica Świdnicka – head towards the Old Town Promenade (a walking route along the moat), where the NFM venue is located.

Taxis can stop in front of the NFM venue on Ulica Krupnicza.
From the PKS and PKP bus stations, it is easy to reach the NFM by public transport, while a walk will take about 20 minutes. From the airport to the NFM, take bus line 406 to the “Renoma” stop. From the Market Square, you can reach the NFM on foot in a few minutes, and from Plac Dominikański a walk will take about 10 minutes.
You can leave your car in the underground car park under Plac Wolności, entrance through a tunnel from Ulica Krupnicza or from Ulica Kazimierza Wielkiego. It is a paid car park.

Parking

There is a paid underground car park with a capacity of 650 automobiles (including  motorcycles) located under Plac Wolności. We regret that coaches cannot park there – they can only go into the tunnel accessible from Ulica Krupnicza to drop off or pick up passengers. The car park is entered from Ulica Krupnicza or Ulica Kazimierza Wielkiego (via Zamkowa ) and exited towards Ulica Świdnicka (via Ulica Heleny Modrzejewskiej) or towards Ulica Kazimierza Wielkiego. From the car park, you can go straight to the NFM venue or take the stairs or a lift to Plac Wolności.

Fragments of a historic medieval bastion wall are visible in the car park. If you arrive to the concert by car, please plan your journey with some time to spare, because traffic is heavy before major events at the NFM, and that means it may take longer to get to the car park.

Please note the National Forum of Music is not the owner or operator of the car park under Plac Wolności. The operator of the car park is Interparking Polska Sp. z o.o., controlled by Wrocławskie Inwestycje.
Please report any problems with the operation of the car park or suggestions for improvements directly to Wrocławskie Inwestycje at the following e-mail address: parking@wi.wroc.pl

NFM FAQ - savoir vivre EN

Concert savoir vivre
Is there a dress code at the NFM?

The most important thing is that you enjoy the music and feel comfortable. Some music lovers choose formal attire, others prefer casual clothes – maybe just a little more elegant. The basic rule is that the only people who must dress elegantly for every concert are the artists on stage.

How long does a concert last?

The programme of each concert is different, usually lasting about two hours including a 30-minute break. Not all concerts have breaks. Sometimes there is a technical break during the concert (e.g. to change the stage setup), then the listeners are asked to remain seated.

Concerts for children and young people last one hour.

Detailed information on the length of the concerts can be found on our website in the concert calendar and in the leaflets with concert notes distributed before the concerts. Intermissions are marked with asterisks ***

When to clap?

Most classical works of music, such as symphonies and concertos, have three or four movements. There is usually a short break after each movement. It is customary not to applaud the artist between movements. To find out how many movements each piece has, have a look at the concert programme. You will see that each piece is divided – usually the names of the movements refer to the Italian tempo markings. There are other ways to be sure that the piece has finished and that you can start clapping: it is when the conductor lowers his hands and turns to face the audience.

For example:
Ludwig van Beethoven Symphony No. 5 in C minor op. 67
Movements:
I Allegro con brio
pause
II Andante con moto
pause
III Scherzo. Allegro
pause
IV Finale. Allegro
applause

F. Chopin Piano Concerto No. 1 in E minor op. 11
Movements:
I Allegro maestoso
pause
II Larghetto
pause
III Rondo – Vivace
applause

During jazz concerts, feel free to reward solos with applause.

When to come?

Arriving 30 minutes before the concert is the best solution. You will have enough time to collect tickets from the box office if necessary, leave your coats in the cloakroom, visit the cafe, turn off your phones, take a seat in the hall and have a look at the concert programme.
Please note that if you are late, you will be allowed into the hall only during the intermission.

Can I take pictures and record the concert?

Please be informed that only accredited media can record and photograph the concert. There are also concerts without photographers/recording engineers as the artists may not wish it.

Touring the venue during and outside concerts

Before concerts and during the intermissions, you can tour the foyer, visit the café or stay in the concert hall and take a look at the architectural and acoustic solutions.
Outside of concerts, tours are possible in groups with a guide on dates scheduled by the organiser. We announce the dates of guided tours of the NFM on the website and on our Facebook page.
We invite children (in groups) to a tour of the NFM combined with singing songs.
