Despite their young age and still being undergraduates, they are already well-formed artists – they give solo concerts, collaborate with virtuosos, and win the highest awards at Polish and international competitions. By inviting the most talented instrumentalists of the young generation to cooperate, the NFM Leopoldinum Orchestra will give us the opportunity to listen to emerging talents who will surely leave their mark on the music scene.
The concert programme includes works from various eras, in which the talented musicians to present their extraordinary skills. The evening will open with a piece by a representative of the young generation of composers, Rafał Barcelli, who is a student of Paweł Hendrich – a n acclaimed composer from Wrocław, Artistic Director of the Musica Polonica Nova festival. The first part of the programme will combine the latest music with Classical pieces. Immediately after Barcelli's Passacaglia, we will hear Maya Szafrańska-Olejniczak and Antoni Wrona performing the solo parts of the two movements of Joseph Haydn’s Cello Concerto in C major.
The second part of the concert will feature the violist Barbara Olearczyk and four violinists: Marta Gębska, Emilia Schock, Bartosz Olszewski and Łucja Pych, the latter only twelve years old. Marta Gębska will perform a piece by Karol Lipiński. Olearczyk will present the elegiac Trauermusik by Paul Hindemith, and Emilia Schock will play Nocturne and Tarantella by Karol Szymanowski, which are stylisations of Gypsy and Italian music. Bartosz Olszewski will perform the Introduction and Rondo Capriccioso by Camille Saint-Saëns, which he wrote for Pablo Sarasate. The music of the latter, a Spanish virtuoso violinist, will also be heard during the concert. His fiery Gypsy Melodies will be presented by the youngest performer, Łucja Pych, winner of the 5th International Wanda Wiłkomirska Violin Competition of Polish Music.
