In early music, art and science intertwined. An example of this can be found in the music of the Trecento period, when musical notation became increasingly concretised. What can we extract today from the preserved sources and the musical notation of that time? What did the artist need to know and be able to do in order to perform the composition properly? What comes into play when we perform early music today?
The programme will be devoted to the music of the Trecento period, in particular the madrigals and musical instruments of that time, especially the lute. This will be an opportunity to see reproductions of original music records from this period and learn about them, as well as listen to live performances. All this with the participation of the early music ensemble laReverdie and the musicologist specialising in early music Dr Grzegorz Joachimiak from the Institute of Musicology of Wrocław University and the Early Music Department of the Academy of Music in Wrocław. Wrocław’s musical treasures will be talked about too!
