Krzyżowa-Music is an international chamber music festival for future generations, which has been organised regularly since 2015 in Krzyżowa (previously Kreisau). It symbolises the desire to integrate Europe through cultural exchange.
The idea to create the festival came from its current Artistic Director Viviane Hagner, a violinist who tours all over the world. Having participated repeatedly in the Marlboro Music chamber music festival, she has noticed the potential of Krzyżowa.
Under the banner Music for Europe, fifty musicians will perform fifty pieces of chamber music, from Baroque to contemporary. Seasoned artists, including Gabor Boldoczki, Andreas Haefliger, Viviane Hagner and Midori, collaborate with young musicians such as Pablo Barragán, Adam Golka, Robert Kowalski, Zuzanna Sosnowska, Kinga Wojdalska, and Stephen Waarts. This year, the festival’s composer-in-residence will be the Irish violist Garth Knox.
The programme of the concert celebrating the festival’s 10th anniversary will be born during the rehearsals and will be announced three days before the concert.
