The Ormimus band in their repertoire combines elements of the cultures of people inhabiting the outskirts of our continent, the Mediterranean and the Middle East. The artists are fascinated by Jewish music (including klezmer), Yemeni, Syrian, Moroccan, Spanish, Balkan and Eastern European music. In 2023, these diverse inspirations informed the creation of the ORMIMUS Oriental Mystique Music. Music from this album will be presented by the trio during their concert at the NFM.
The concert will make you crave the gusts of hot southern winds, you will get immersed in exciting melodies, pulsating rhythms and mystical sounds that will take you to the Mediterranean Sea and further towards the desert dunes. The guides on this enchanting journey will be graduates of the Karol Lipiński Academy of Music in Wrocław and experienced musicians present on stage for decades. Already in the 1970s, saxophonist Władysław “Woody” Kwaśnicki was a member of the jazz-rock band Crash. He has also collaborated with Grażyna Łobaszewska and The Platers, among others. He has given concerts in the United States, Germany, Spain, Denmark, the Netherlands, Sweden and Finland. He has been listened to by the audiences of the Warsaw Jazz Jamboree Festival, Jazz nad Odrą and the Polish Song Festival in Opole. Guitarist Romuald Frey has collaborated with such celebrities as Ewa Bem, Andrzej Zaucha, Kabaret Elita and Wrocław Band. As a sideman, he also worked for the Polish Radio Wrocław and recorded for the Tonpress label. Violinist Beata Wołczyk is known to all regulars of the Capitol Musical Theatre – she is concertmistress in the house band. She has collaborated with Marek Tracz and is the founder of the Millenium and Capitol string quartets.
