An exhibition of paintings from the collection of Zachęta – National Art Gallery in Warsaw – prepared for the National Forum of Music in Wrocław features works by artists using various idioms of abstraction. The presentation of paintings created in the period from the 1960s to the beginning of the 21st century presents the most important trends in non-figurative painting in Polish art. The selection of works by artists of several generations, belonging to such different trends in non-representational art as biomorphic, geometric or colour abstraction, shows the rich potential of this artistic language, the starting point of which was a simple, yet radical gesture of moving away from figuration. Paintings based on conceptual reflection, rumination about the natural world and emotional experiences present individual aspects of learning, discovering and experiencing the world.
