Is it possible to capture the characteristic silence of the last moments before sunrise, the sounds of the world waking up to life? You will hear soundscapes of mornings in the multi-channel, ambisonic sound broadcast entitled Greeting the Sun. The carefully selected recordings encourage you to pause, contemplate and open up to experiencing diverse emotions.
Greeting the Sun is a project conceived by Przemysław Scheller – a composer of instrumental, vocal, electronic music, also active in cross-genre projects. He is fascinated by research into music psychology and perception and issues related to shaping the soundscape. His installation takes us to the world of natural sounds, capturing both the beauty of the landscape around us and the damaging impact of humans on the environment. The ambisonic recordings evoke a three-dimensional sound space. During the festival, they will be played back using a special sixteen-channel audio system. Greeting the Sun is also a challenge, the aim of which is to redirect your attention to auditory impressions and subordinate yourself to them. As the process of making the recordings has highlighted the problem of sound pollution generated by humans, the work also shows how important acoustic ecology is alongside raising awareness of the need for silence in human and natural life.
