During the concert From the Bell to the Fanfare, which will be devoted to brass, woodwind and percussion instruments, Jupiter will sound like an explosion of joy, proving that these instruments are used in themes of triumph, expressing the power of sound, joy, pride, highlighting victory or a happy ending. Due to their wide dynamic range, they are also used in pieces intended for outdoor performance. They are perfect for film music. The strength and volume of their sound mean that instruments of this type are also used in the military – they can be played without much difficulty while marching. Using examples of excellent works selected from classical and film music, you will learn which instruments composers entrust with themes of love, joy, war or triumph. You will also delve into the history of some wind and percussion instruments, learn about their built, sound and expressive qualities. Together we will find out about the importance of dynamics and rhythm in music and about the purpose of coded signals and multi-part fanfares played on brass and percussion instruments.
