Three important figures in European jazz will perform at Mleczarnia Club and Cafe. Their music draws on the language of free jazz and European free improvisation, but it is a very collaborative freestyle: the main tool for sonic exploration is close communication between the artists.
Saxophonist Camila Nebbia grew up and trained – in classical music and in jazz – in Buenos Aires, before moving to Europe and continuing her education in Tallinn, Stockholm, Lyon, and Hamburg. She has recorded with musicians such as Susana Santos Silva, Angelica Sanchez, Iago Fernández, Leo Genovesi, and Andrew Lisle, and her own work nods to American jazz giants Charles Mingus and Archie Shepp. Double bassist James Banner was born in Dudley, England. He is an improviser and composer, creating mainly electroacoustic music that straddles the boundaries of improvisation, noise, rock, jazz, and contemporary music. They will be joined by drummer Moritz Baumgärtner from Basel. After moving to Berlin, the artist studied at the Jazz Institute Berlin under the tutelage of such artists as Jim Black, Jeff Ballard, John Hollenbeck, and Chris Dahlgren. Today, his discography includes over fifty albums, including – interestingly – the Tralala by Mateusz Pospieszalski.
