Anything can happen during improvised sessions at Mleczarnia. The biggest stars of each Jazztopad Festival are often there, and the audience, eager for sonic surprises, have often rubbed their eyes (and ears!) in amazement as they watched one musician or another reach for an unfamiliar instrument or embrace an aesthetic they are hardly associated with The Wrocław-Australian trio Sundogs, bringing together drummer Samuel Hall, double bassist Zbigniew Kozera and clarinetist Mateusz Rybicki, participate in Jazztopad Improv Sessions.
This band is no mere ephemeral – the artists released their first album eight years ago and recorded it at Galeria na Czystej in Wrocław, focusing not only on themselves but also on the interactive space of the venue. Their second album, In The Land Of Green Dust (2019), was created in Wrocław’s Osobowicki Forest – on it, these seasoned improvisers engaged in a dialogue with an even more disruptive soundscape, still further removed from studio conditions. Rybicki, Kozera, and Hall are long-time partners and residents of Jazztopad and, among other things, facilitators of the unique evenings at Mleczarnia.
