This is the eleventh season of the NFM Orchestra Academy, a project aimed at preparing young musicians for work in orchestras. We invite you to the March open rehearsal of an orchestra consisting of participants in this year’s edition.
One element of the season-long workshops is orchestral classes, giving participants an opportunity to explore a wide range of orchestral repertoire and to apply the knowledge gained during tutorials and section rehearsals. It also provides an opportunity to collaborate with top-class musicians. The March orchestral classes will be led by maestro Daniel Raiskin – music director of the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra (Canada), principal conductor of the Janáček Philharmonic Ostrava (Czech Republic), principal guest conductor of the Slovak Philharmonic and of the Belgrade Philharmonic Orchestra (Serbia). Under his direction, NFM Orchestra Academy participants will work on Franz Schubert’s famous Unfinished Symphony No. 8 in B minor D 759.
For several years now, the NFM Orchestra Academy has offered an opportunity to witness the creative process that takes place during a professional orchestra rehearsal – a process that usually culminates in a concert. The last hour of a tutti rehearsal is open to the audience. Come and join us – your presence is an additional motivation for the young people and a catalyst for unleashing their emotions, without which true artistry is hard to achieve.
The open rehearsal will last one hour and will take place without intermission.
