Magdalena Zawartko and guest artists will take the youngest audience and their parents/guardians to fascinating musical lands inspired by the most beautiful fairy tales and sounds from around the world. During the concert, you will hear a variety of songs and a rich array of ethnic instruments.
On the Voyage into the Unknown, we will discover African rhythms inspired by The Lion King and learn to sing in Zulu, and while listening to Polynesian songs, we will embark on an ocean voyage with Vaiana and immerse ourselves in the mysterious sounds of Asia, alluding to the story of Mulan. But this is only the beginning of the adventure, as the concert will also feature other extraordinary sounds, including the duduk, darabuka, frame drums, rain stick, and koshi, which will surely capture children’s imaginations and encourage active participation. The inspiration for this programme came from the Vagabond, recorded by Magdalena Zawartko and Grzegorz Piasecki. It is a musical story full of ethnic rhythms and melodies brought from around the world. The artists drew heavily on local cultures and traditions.
Gordon Concerts are conducted according to the principles of Prof Edwin E. Gordon’s music learning theory. A key premise of this concept is shaping children’s musical language and supporting their comprehensive development. The sessions are very informal. The youngest participants, boys and girls alike, and their parents/guardians sit on the floor between the artists and actively participate in the concert. The performers engage with the audience and encourage them to sing, dance, and rhythm together.
This concert is dedicated to children up to three years of age.
