During this year’s The Night of Museums, join us for the exciting experience of the Sound Gallery. The NFM space will be filled with various concerts, mini-concerts, and installations located in unusual corners of the venue – including those not normally accessible to you.
This project was initiated by composer Piotr Peszat and flautist Małgorzata Mikulska. The creators want to focus on the physical aspect of performing a piece, the associated bodily limitations, and attempts to overcome them. Playing a composition is perceived as a process of self-improvement understood in two ways. On the one hand, it is an artistic activity and an attempt to achieve professional perfection. On the other, it is a purely physical activity, requiring a specific level of fitness.
The piece was created in collaboration with professional fitness trainer Magdalena Głowacz. Its rhythm and intervals are adapted to the flow of a workout session. The structure was developed to improve well-being, provide a high dose of energy, and simultaneously provide an aesthetic experience. Participants can participate in it as a cardio session led by a coach.
The aesthetics of contemporary classical music are juxtaposed with a highly rhythmic audio playback layer, which is definitely closer to a club space than a concert hall. Art detached from reality is forced into the formula of fitness training, and the artist's vision is confronted with the physique of an athlete. Cardio is a completely new way to engage with artistic activity while simultaneously cultivating physical fitness. If you are interested in participating in the event, please bring training clothes and shoes, as well as mats, towels, and drinking water.
