The work of Stanisław Lem has been inspiring new music composers for a long time, including Esa-Pekka Salonen and Krzysztof Meyer who drew from the Polish author’s output in their own wrtiting. Bajki robotów. Co-opera by Cezary Duchnowski and Paweł Hendrich is a premiere project based on one of the most popular and readable books by Lem. In this collection of amusing, philosophical, and sometimes scary fables experiments and puns play an important role. Will they be as important in the Bajki Robotów. Co-opera? The composers of this unusual cyber-opera, Wrocław-based Cezary Duchnowski and Paweł Hendrich, for a long time now have combined human and technological elements in their work. Hendrich is most interested in the scientific and analytical approach to working with sound, whereas Duchnowski opts for improvisation. The premiere of their new work will feature excellent instrumentalists (a. o. Paweł Romańczuk from the Small Instruments group) as well as dancers and visualisations.
