Élisabeth-Claude Jacquet de La Guerre (1665–1729) as a harpsichordist and composer had a very successful career. She was born into a musical family. As a prodigy, at an early age she joined the court of King Louis XIV, where she received superb musical education. Also after getting married, she composed a lot and gave concerts that were very well received. Her output is vast and comprises harpsichord sonatas, cantatas, instrumental chamber music and incidental music.
