The Lautari band is familiar with both playing to dance in the barns and participation in avant-garde projects in jazz clubs and concert halls in Poland and abroad. The artists have learnt from village musicians and rooted through Oskar Kolberg's works – in search of not only old melodies, but also cultural context. The band won the 2nd prize at the Folk Festival of Polish Radio NOWA TRADYCJA in 2001, and won the 1st and 2nd prize in the Folk Phonogram of the Year competition (in 2002 and 2006 respectively).
