The Flex Ensemble has been recognized worldwide for years. Their showcase is unquestionable professionalism. The members of the ensemble are distinguished by their great commitment and willingness to experiment. Their repertoire includes works by outstanding virtuosos but at the same time they take care to present their own material.
Every village is a different song - the old saying perfectly refers to Polish tradition and folklore. In order to best reflect the Slavism, the musicians have carefully arranged the programme of the concert, using classics such as Fryderyk Chopin's Mazurkas. The Mazurkas were composed continuously for almost 25 years. The works were created as an expression of a boundless longing for the homeland, and what is important, they constitute an idealised image of the composer's homeland. The Flex Ensemble will also evoke the multi-coloured landscape of Suite divertissement by Alexandre Tansman, a Polish composer who became known all over the world.
The quartet will present to the Wrocław audience compositions written specially for the ensemble by outstanding Polish artists. The Flex Ensemble invited Mateusz Smoczyński to collaborate. Interestingly, Smoczyński has been inspired by original Kurpie folk songs in his work. The audience will be able to find a strong reference to tradition in the Perpetuum Stable by Paweł Mykietyn too. Both in the first and second case the compositions will be performed for the first time in Poland.
