It has already become a tradition that the Polish Composers’ Union, as the co-organizer of the Musica Polonica Nova festival, has a certain autonomy in planning some concerts.
The programme of Thursday’s concert was proposed by Mateusz Ryczek, the chairman of the Wrocław branch of the organisation. He is also a member of the programme committee of the festival. During the concert, the avant garde ensemble Kompopolex will perform, using performative and visual elements. Its performances are often filled with a lot of humour. The musicians present works by older generation composers, active in the Wrocław branch of the Polish Composers’ Union (ZKP). The compositions have been specially arranged for the ensemble taking part in the concert – electronics, accordion, flute and cello. It will be an experiment to discover how music written even a few decades ago can sound nowadays.
