Each of the performers of the dance has been looking for their musical centres of the world over the last two decades. Some discoveries were made individually, while others were shared. We invite you to have fun together!
These were the worlds of women singing while picking berries, men grazing oxen, country musicians playing at weddings, and small-town harmonists playing at parties. The musicians delved into singles and polyphonic songs, dances in duple and triple metre, into circular and centrifugal movements, into the entanglements of snakes, punches and whirls. In the cultures we know, dancing and singing were closely related. We encourage you to experience it together during a sung dance, and in it: sung mazurkas, kujons, śpiwy, powiślaki, polkas and other dance games, as well as spring and harvest parades, šetano kolo and songs to listen to. We will hear melodies from Central Poland and Lower Silesia, from the Ukrainian Polesie, from southern Russia, from Belarus, and songs from re-emigrants from the former Yugoslavia.
