In winter, the mountains look like a fairy-tale land. All covered with a snowy duvet, they create a unique Christmas atmosphere. When the first star shines in the sky on Christmas Eve, the highlanders sit down to supper. In a cozy cottage there is a beautifully dressed Christmas tree, the room smells of traditional Christmas food, and there is a fire in the hearth. At a richly set wooden table, beautifully decorated with folk ornaments, the household members share the wafer with the guests. And when they have had a tasty meal, they pull out violins and basses and start singing Christmas carols.
The concert features a group of friends who share a love of highlander music. The are spontaneous and joyfull in their musicmaking. The artists will present traditional highlander carols and pastorals. The music will be enriched with colourful instruments: apart from the violin, accordion and double bass, little music lovers will have a look at dulcimer, Hungarian viola, cajon and other percussion instruments. They will learn about the plain chant and the musical scales typical of Podhale. They will look inside a wooden hut, see the beautiful highlander folk dresses and feel the magic of Christmas celebrated in the mountains.
