The programme of the recital by the eminent organist Sławomir Kamiński includes works by outstanding composers creating in the 19th and 20th centuries, including Johannes Brahms, Robert Schumann, Max Reger, and Feliks Nowowiejski.

The concert will begin with the Prelude and Fugue in A minor by Johannes Brahms, a German composer of the Romantic era. This work is the result of the composer’s studies of counterpoint and early music. It is one of the most popular pieces of small organ music that this composer left behind. It will precede the composition of Robert Schumann, to whom we owe the discovery of Brahms’s talent: Mit innigem Ausdruck from Sechs Stücke in kanonischer Form op. 56 –kept in a cheerful and truly nostalgic mood.

César Franck’s works for organ are more plentiful than that of the above-mentioned composers. Indeed, Franck was not only a respected composer, but also an excellent organist. The Pièce héroïque is a piece of sublime character, with an almost triumphant ending. It was written in September 1878 and premiered by the Franck during the inauguration of the new Aristide Cavaillé-Colla organ, built in the Trocadéro Palace in Paris. Kamiński will also perform the Dankpsalm from the collection Sieben Stücke für Orgel op. 145 composed at the turn of 1915 and 1916 by Max Reger and containing his last works for this instrument. The NFM Main Hall will also be filled with the sounds of the Introduction and Fugue from the Organ Concerto op. 56 no. 2 by Feliks Nowowiejski, considered one of the greatest composers of Polish organ music of the 20th century. The concert finale will feature the work of Maurice Duruflé, a student of the legendary organists Charles Tournemire and Louis Vierne, to whom he dedicated his Prélude, adagio et choral varié sur le "Veni Creator" op. 4. It is the sounds of the chorale contained in it that will crown Sławomir Kamiński’s recital.
