Poetry in Motion Works presented during the festival by students and graduates of the Multimedia Activities Studio at the Design Department of the Academy of Fine Arts in Katowice involve kinetic typography (poetry in motion). Text (spoken, written) in the 21st century still plays a major role in human communication. However, cyberspace has given designers and visual artists entirely new possibilities for creating textual messages. Typographic layouts are no longer just static images, associated mainly with print media. They became an important element of dynamic media, opening up to issues beyond the traditional sphere of interest of visual arts, e.g. time-based media became a key element of the design process. Working on kinetic typography therefore requires knowledge of advanced computer technology as well as film technology and narratology. Such a transdisciplinary background is essential for creating messages (narrative texts) with the help of new technologies.
