This evening the stage will belong to a number of children’s and teenage choirs from the whole of Wrocław! The young singers, accompanied by the symphonic orchestra of the Karol Szymanowski Primary and Secondary Music High School in Wrocław, will perform works by Polish composers Krzysztof Domański and Izabela Polakowska-Rybska, who will also conduct the young musicians during the concert.
Muzykopedia is a composition by Krzysztof Domański, with lyrics by Maciej Papierski. It’s an artistic and educational project that takes the listeners on an inspiring journey through the magical world of music, and it is a unique experience for all the family. This work by Domański and the composition Moje miejsce na ziemi by Izabela Polakowska-Rybska were created for a two-part choir with the accompaniment of a string orchestra and percussion instruments along with a flute, celesta and harp.
After listening to these pieces, tempo and articulation will no longer be mysterious terms. No one will be able to confuse andante with vivace or legato with staccato. The compositions came into being out of a love for the fairytale-like quality created not only by attractive melodies and harmony, but above all by the beauty of children’s voices singing in unison.
The Choral Academy is a project aimed at promoting singing by, among other initiatives, creating a coherent programme of choir development – from preschool to professional ensembles. The main mission of this initiative is to care about singing in everyone’s life, right from the earliest years. It responds to demands that change with age, addressing the different needs of children, adults, amateurs and professional vocalists. And because group singing is the best way of incorporating singing into our daily life – bringing not only artistic benefits, but also psychological and social ones – it is the choirs above all that fulfil the main mission of the project, which is also about supporting choir conductors and young singers.
