In 2022, the Polish National Youth Choir and the newly established German Federal Youth Choir will meet to work on a Polish and German repertoire and present it during three a cappella concerts entitled Spirit of Nature, which will take place in Görlitz, Wrocław and Kraków.

For the purposes of this session, a new work has been commissioned, which, both with its text and music, will touch upon the most important aspects related to ecology and the world around us. The conductors also chose other works by Polish and German composers relating to this theme, incl. by Karol Szymanowski, Felix Mendelssohn, Johannes Brahms, Aleksandra Chmielewska, Marek Raczyński, Katarzyna Danel, Sebastian Szymański, Michał Ziółkowski, and Zuzanna Kozia. The latter composition addresses the issue of the universality of music as a language of understanding between people. Some of the pieces will be performed by joined choirs.

The collabo4ation between the two choirs will encompass not only concerts. They will be preceded by a seven-day session, during which there will be choir rehearsals, tutorials with singing teachers from Poland and Germany, as well as lectures and workshops thematically related to the concert programme and shaping universal artistic competences in the young choristers. During the meetings, issues of cultural exchange and international collaboration will also be discussed. The choirs will be prepared for the concerts by Agnieszka Franków-Żelazny and Anne Kohler.
