What do the birds sing about in the forest? Where can you meet forest spirits? What will happen if you get lost near Baba Yaga's house? We will tell you about it with colourful music setting the famous fairy tale of Hansel und Gretel in Engelbert Humperdinck's version, much more cheerful than the original literary text. The children of a poor broom maker - unruly and sweet-thoothed rascals - sneak into the home's pantry and break a jug of milk. An angry mother sends her children to the forest to pick berries. Meanwhile, their father returns home, happy he has sold a lot of brooms. Concerned about the whereabouts of the children, he sets out to look for them. The forest spreads its magic before Hansel and Gretel. While picking berries, they are accompanied by flying creatures and are put to sleep by forest spirits. They find a wonderful house made of gingerbread, inhabited by a cunning witch.
You will hear the famous fairy tale in Engelbert Humperdinck's opera version, full of songs and wonderful melodies. The artists invite you on a musical journey to the world of children's fantasies!
