Immerse yourself in the Christmas atmosphere and join us for the concert in which the singers of the NFM Girls’ Choir, NFM Boys’ Choir, and the “Rondo” Vocal Ensemble, accompanied by instrumentalists, will present the most beautiful Polish carols and pastorals. The musicians will be conducted by Małgorzata Podzielny.
The concert will be filled with carols and pastorals eagerly sung in Polish homes, which bring to mind the warmth of family mood and magical aura of Christmas. In addition to the Christmas Eve supper, a lavishly decorated Christmas tree or a multitude of presents under it, carols are an inseparable element of celebrating this special time in Poland. They originate from folk tradition and although they were originally New Year’s songs, over time, in Christian culture they began to be associated with the Nativity. In most cases, due to their folk provenance it is impossible to name the authors of the words or melodies. Increasingly, renowned composers began to create them too – sometimes the texts of carols were written by illustrious poets, as in the case of Bóg się rodzi by Franciszek Karpiński or Mizerna, cicha by Teofil Lenartowicz.
This afternoon, the young choristers will perform many Polish pieces arranged by various artists, including Bóg się rodzi, Mizerna, cicha, Wśród nocnej ciszy, Lulajże, Jezuniu and Przybieżeli do Betlejem.
