Italian 17th-century music derives from the improvisational and virtuoso practice of decorating the composition with lots of quick notes. And although artists were often subjects of complaints about them showing off only their skills, the aim of this art was to express the music, as well as to present in the works the content taken from the contemporary realities. We will find religious themes in these compositions, imitation of sounds and ways of playing on various musical instruments, chiming bells and singing birds. The works will be performed by an international line-up of instrumentalists from around the world who share the same ideals and emotions associated with performing early music.
