The concert programme featuring the conductor Agnieszka Franków-Żelazny includes three works written by contemporary composers. Two of them will see their premiere on this day.
The title of the concert comes from the first work in the programme: Relations by Ewa Fabiańska-Jelińska. This young generation composer, born in 1989, is the author of numerous solo, chamber, vocal, orchestral works, film and theatre music as well as arrangements. The artist, educated in Toruń and Vienna, has won many prestigious national and international composers’ competitions. The Wroclaw presentation of Relations will be the first performance of the work.
Agata Zubel is one of the most recognizable Polish composers, she is also valued as a singer presenting most often contemporary music. Her dramatic Oresteia for soloists, actors, choir, percussion and electronics was commissioned by the Grand Theatre National Opera in Warsaw in 2011. The work was premiered a year later in Poland’s capital, and the Wrocław audience will have an opportunity to listen to its fragments.
Chelsea Loew was born in 1992 in Charleston. The composer is currently a Fulbright scholarship holder. Now she is staying in Wrocław, studying composition with Agata Zubel. She is the author of solo, chamber, orchestral, vocal and choral pieces. In composing, she is fascinated by the relationship between words and music. During the concert, we will hear a new work by Loew.
