“I think it’s very interesting to delve into the environment of a country to see if its specificity still exists, if there’s any distinctiveness of geography, or if it’s all blurring because the world is completely mixed up now. I’m happy that I can entrust curation to several composers, young composers, very young artists,” said Pierre Jodlowski, Artistic Director of the festival. The concert will feature compositions by four artists of the young generation from Italy. It will be opened by the iCi (en écho) by Daniele Ghisi, who is also the curator of the event. The main axis of his creative interests is research on electroacoustic music, which is reflected in the work Electronic Studies. It presents paths, maps, games, challenges – a constantly ongoing process, which refelcts the reality of the modern world.
“I make music that is bizarre to most people, and do other things, such as creating music software, teaching computer music, or writing about music,” is how Andrea Agostini describes himself. Three of his works based on algorithms and elementary sound synthesis – In nomine, Joyful Psychedelic Vorticose Stomp and Everything We Do Leaves a Trace, Every Trace We Leave Fades Away – will feature in the programme. The Klocka and Epitaffio by Andrea Sarto present two different aspects of the same issue. The first of the pieces touches on propagation, the silencing of the characteristic sound of the bell. The Epitaffio is a study on its metallic resonance. An important factor in both works is the unit of time over which a given musical object propagates. The idea linking the works of Eric Maestri – the Love and the Spirits – is the realm of emotions. Tonight, the musicians will perform their world premieres.
