In its constantly expanding repertoire, it has, among others contemporary music – for the first time in Poland it has presented a number of lesser-known works belonging to world literature and taken part in premieres of works by many Polish composers, including Wojtek Blecharz, Paweł Hendrich, Miłosz Wośko, Mikołaj Majkusiak, Marcin Stańczyk, and Rafał Augustyn.
Together with the outstanding jazzman Wayne Shorter and his quartet, the LutosAir Quintet performed at the Jazztopad and London Jazz Festival, performing The Unfolding – a piece specially written by Shorter for this occasion. It has also collaborated with prominent Polish musicians: Piotr Sałajczyk, Bartłomiej Duś, Rafał Łuc, Maciej Frąckiewicz, and the Lutosławski Quartet.
The ensemble’s discography includes several albums with music from the 20th and 21st centuries. Performed by the LutosAir Quintet, the piece Alevi Dedeler Rakı Masasında by Fazıl Say was the main inspiration for the creation of the short musical film Neither Peace nor Quietness (2018) directed by Zbigniew Bodzek and Michał Dawidowicz and awarded several times at international film festivals.
Recently, the quintet’s musicians have been involved in bringing live music to care homes, hospitals, hospices, and prisons. In this way, they aspire to reach people who have limited opportunities of coming to a live concert in a venue or are completely deprived of them. The LutosAir Quintet was founded in 2013 and is one of the resident ensembles of the National Forum of Music in Wrocław.
