I cordially invite you to this year’s edition of the Forum Musicum festival, whose main theme will be power and music. The theme of the first concert performed by the Murmur Mori ensemble will be songs created during the Crusades undertaken by medieval rulers mobilised by the Church. The next day we will meet the bard Jacek Kowalski. He will talk about this type of works and sing them in Polish translations. The next concert will celebrate the triumph and glory of power. A dance performance by Cracovia Danza accompanied by the Royal Baroque Ensemble will take us to the court of Louis XIV exercising his absolute rule in a musical and dance setting. In the evening, we will invite you to join in the fun, as this edition will also feature a traditional dance party. The subject of the third concert will be the fall and corruption of power: the Wrocław ensemble Ars Cantus will present fragments of the 14th-century satirical poem Roman de Fauvel – the Story of a Donkey, in which poetry is intertwined with music. During the event crowning the festival, we will learn more about a medieval political manifesto, Hystorigraphi aciem mentis by Mikołaj of Radom. We have also prepared workshops for the youngest.
See you in August!
Tomasz Dobrzański
