Dear Jazz Lovers,
I am delighted to invite you to this year’s edition of the Jazztopad Festival. For over twenty years, we have been providing a space where improvised music meets openness, creative courage and profound dialogue – both with artists and our exceptional audience.
From the very beginning of the festival, I wanted Jazztopad to be not just a series of concerts, but a place for real meetings and long-term relationships. For us, collaborations with artists are based on trust and mutual respect, and it is thanks to them that special projects and commissions of new works are possible, conceived with you in mind. It is these in-depth and multidimensional creations that constitute the unique character of our festival.
This year, we once again have the honour of hosting superb artists. Among them are the legendary David Murray, Wadada Leo Smith, Midori Takada, but also artists exploring new directions and forms of expression, such as Marta Sánchez, Jakob Bro, and Luke Stewart. Each of these names is a separate world, but they all share an openness to creative risk and authenticity.
Jazztopad is also – and perhaps above all – a community. I believe that the festival lives not only on stage, but in conversations, meetings, outreach activities and concerts in living rooms. It is these less spectacular but incredibly important moments that create lasting bonds and make music truly a part of everyday life.
Thank you for being with us. It is your presence and openness that give meaning to what we do. I hope that this year’s edition will bring you many emotions, inspirations and moments of true meditation.
Faithfully yours,
Piotr Turkiewicz
