Ingeborg Danz

Jej współpraca z dyrygentami takimi jak Riccardo Muti, Herbert Blomstedt, Manfred Honeck, Christopher Hogwood, Philippe Herreweghe, Riccardo Chailly, Heinz Holliger, Helmuth Rilling, Iván Fischer, Ingo Metzmacher i Semyon Bychkov zaowocowała występami w Teatro alla Scala oraz na festiwalach w Lucernie i Salzburgu, a także pracą z czołowymi orkiestrami świata: Koninklijk Concertgebouworkest, Boston Symphony Orchestra, Wiener Philharmoniker, Münchner Philharmoniker, Gewandhausorchester, Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks, Deutsche Symphonie-Orchester Berlin, NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchester, Bamberger Symphoniker, Radio-Sinfonieorchester Stuttgart des SWR, Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra, Berliner Philharmoniker, NHK Symphony Orchestra, San Francisco Symphony, Los Angeles Philharmonic, Minnesota Orchestra oraz National Symphony Orchestra Washington i Chicago Symphony Orchestra.

Born in Witten an der Ruhr, contralto Ingeborg Danz first studied school music at the Detmold University of Music. After her state examination she continued her studies in singing with Heiner Eckels and passed her concert examination with distinction. She won numerous competitions already during her studies. Further awards were scholarships of the German Music Council and the Richard Wagner Society.
Despite the fact that Ingeborg Danz has already given guest performances at various opera houses such as the Hamburg State Opera she focuses principally on concert singing and recitals. She worked together closely with the International Stuttgart Bach Academy and Helmuth Rilling, as well as with Philippe Herreweghe and the Collegium Vocale Gent.
In concerts Ingeborg Danz does not solely focus on a certain era. Her repertoire includes on the one hand late Romantic works such as Mahler’s symphonies, Les nuits d'été by Berlioz, Schumann’s Scenes from Goethe’s Faust, masses by Bruckner and Beethoven. On the other hand she can be considered as one of the leading contraltos for the interpretation of music by Bach. Ingeborg Danz is also closely connected to The New Bach Society Leipzig as a member of the board.
Her cooperation with conductors Riccardo Muti, Herbert Blomstedt, Manfred Honeck, Christopher Hogwood, Philippe Herreweghe, Riccardo Chailly, Heinz Holliger, Helmuth Rilling, Iván Fischer, Ingo Metzmacher and Semyon Bychkov lead her to Teatro Alla Scala, to the festivals of Lucerne and Salzburg as well as to the world’s major orchestras: the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, Boston Symphony Orchestra, the Vienna Philharmonic and Munich Philharmonic, the Leipzig Gewandhausorchestra, Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, DSO Berlin, NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchestra, Bamberg Symphony Orchestra, SWR Radio Symphony Orchestra Stuttgart, Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra, Berlin Philharmonic, NHK Symphony Orchestra, San Francisco Orchestra, Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra, Minnesota Orchestra as well as to the National Symphony Orchestra Washington and the Chicago Symphony Orchestra.
In the current season Ingeborg Danz will give guest performances at the Orquestra Sinfonica do Estado de São Paulo (Mahler Symphony No. 2) in São Paulo (cond. Marin Alsop) and at the Philharmonie Berlin with the Merseburger Hofkapelle singing in Beethoven’s Missa solemnis (Jörg-Peter Weigle).
She can be heard in Cologne with the West-German Symphony Orchestra under Heinz Holliger singing ballads by Schumann and under Stefan Parkman in Bach’s St Matthew Passion. In 2017 she will perform Mahler’s Lied von der Erde with the Orchestra Filarmonica della Fenice conducted by Markus Stenz in Toblach.
Ingeborg Danz particularly enjoys giving lied recitals. Accompanied on the piano by Michael Gees or Daniel Heide she performs recitals, which have been highly acclaimed. Her extensive repertoire is documented on many CD recordings: Mozart masses conducted by Nikolaus Harnoncourt issued by Teldec, distinguished recordings with Philippe Herreweghe on Harmonia Mundi, lieder by Brahms as well as a coproduction with the Stuttgart Bach Academy under Helmuth Rilling, both Bach Passions, the Mass in B minor as well as the Christmas Oratorio – also on Hänssler. Brilliant Classics issued a box dedicated to the complete works of Brahms, including a lied CD featuring Ingeborg Danz accompanied by Helmut Deutsch.
