Bettina Wackernagel w swojej twórczości skupia się na muzyce współczesnej, elektronicznej i sztuce mediów. Artystka jest z wykształcenia reżyserką teatru muzycznego. Reżyserowała premierowe spektakle podczas Münchner Biennale, Salzburger Festspiele oraz ars electronica. Obok pracy w teatrze i filmie pełni rolę kuratorki festiwalu muzycznego poświęconego współczesnej muzyce elektronicznej. W 2014 r. powołała do życia festiwal Heroines of Sound. To obejmujące różne gatunki przedsięwzięcie prezentuje twórczość pionierek muzyki elektronicznej, a także na współczesną kobiecą scenę muzyczną. Odbywający się co roku w Berlinie festiwal Heroines of Sound wychodzi poza standardowy schemat tego rodzaju imprez i dzięki licznym partnerom organizuje dodatkowe wydarzenia i debaty także poza Berlinem. Od 2014 r. festiwal zaprezentował ponad 80 artystów z 20 krajów w takich miastach, jak Aarhus, Haga, St. Pölten i Stambuł.
Bettina Wackernagel jest dyrektorem artystycznym festiwalu i przewodniczącą zarządu Berliner Gesellschaft für Neue Musik.

Bettina Wackernagel´s work is focused on contemporary-, electronic music and media art. As a trained music-theatre director she premiered works for Münchner Biennale, Salzburger Festspiele and ars electronica. Equally to her work for theatre and film, she curates music Festival´s on aspects of contemporary electronic music. In 2014 she founded the Heroines of Sound Festival. The genre-spanning festival focuses on the female pioneers of electronic music while turning attention to the women of today’s music scene. Going beyond the standard festival circuit, the annual Berlin based Festival is linked with many partners, establishing new events and sparking debate. Since 2014, the Festival has presented over 80 artists from 20 different countries in Aarhus, The Hague, St.Pölten and Istanbul.)
Bettina Wackernagel is artistic director of the Heroines of Sound Festival and chairs the board of directors at the bgnm (berlin society of new music).
