Patrick Grahl

Patrick Grahl urodził się w Lipsku i początkowo był członkiem Thomanerchor Leipzig. Ukończył z wyróżnieniem studia wokalne Hochschule für Musik und Theater Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy Leipzig u Bertholda Schmida. Uczestniczył ponadto w kursach mistrzowskich prowadzonych przez Petera Schreiera, Gottholda Schwarza, Gerda Türka, Ileanę Cotrubaş i Karla-Petera Kammerlandera. Jeszcze jako student kreował takie role jak Alfred w Zemście nietoperza J. Straussa, Tamino w Czarodziejskim flecie W.A. Mozarta i Albert w operze Albert Herring B. Brittena. W obecnym sezonie Patrick Grahl występuje gościnnie jako Don Ottavio w Don Giovannim W.A. Mozarta w Teatro La Fenice w Wenecji.

W 2016 r. tenor zdobył pierwszą nagrodę w XX International Bach Competition Leipzig. Występował w oratoriach i koncertach z orkiestrami takimi jak Leipzig Gewandhausorchester, Dresdner Philharmonie, NDR Radiophilharmonie, Gürzenich-Orchester Köln, Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, Kammerorchester Basel, Czech Philharmonic Orchestra, Collegium Vocale Gent czy London Symphony Orchestra. Śpiewał pod batutą takich dyrygentów jak sir John Eliot Gardiner, Daniele Gatti, Hartmut Haenchen, Ludwig Güttler, Peter Schreier, Andrew Manze i Leopold Hager. Artysta nadal blisko współpracuje z Thomanerchor Leipzig i Dresdner Kreuzchor.

Patrick Grahl oprócz tego, że występuje na scenie koncertowej i operowej, z pasją poświęca się kameralistyce i recitalom, m.in. z własnym męskim kwartetem wokalnym Ensemble Thios Omilos lub zespołem Barockwerk Ost, z którym w 2014 r. zdobył pierwszą nagrodę za promocję muzyki dawnej, przyznawaną przez Saarländischer Rundfunk i Akademie für Alte Musik. Do 2013 r. Patrick Grahl był również stypendystą Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung w Bonn.

Patrick Grahl was born in Leipzig and was initially a member of the St. Thomas Choir of Leipzig; he completed his singing training at the Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy Academy of Music in Leipzig with Berthold Schmid, graduating with distinction. Patrick Grahl attended master-classes held by Peter Schreier, Gotthold Schwarz, Gerd Türk, Ileana Cotrubaş and Karl-Peter Kammerlander. While still a student he performed roles such as Alfred in Die Fledermaus by J. Strauss, Tamino in W.A. Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte and Albert in Albert Herring by B. Britten. During the current season Patrick Grahl gives guest appearances as Don Ottavio in Mozart’s Don Giovanni at the Teatro La Fenice di Venezia.

In 2016 the tenor won first prize at the 20th International Bach Competition Leipzig. He has appeared in oratorios and concerts with orchestras such as the Gewandhausorchester, Dresden Philharmonic, NDR Radio Philharmonic, Gürzenich Orchestra Cologne, Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, Basel Chamber Orchestra, Czech Philharmonic Orchestra Prague, Collegium Vocale Gent, and London Symphony Orchestra, with conductors such as Sir John Eliot Gardiner, Daniele Gatti, Hartmut Haenchen, Ludwig Güttler, Peter Schreier, Andrew Manze and Leopold Hager. Patrick Grahl still has close ties with the St. Thomas Choir of Leipzig and with the Dresdner Kreuzchor.

Besides his many commitments on the concert and opera stage Patrick Grahl also has a dedicated interest in chamber music projects and recitals, for instance with his male voice quartet Ensemble Thios Omilos or the ensemble Barockwerk Ost, with which in 2014 he won first prize of the Advancement prize for Early Music awarded by Saarland Radio and the Akademie für Alte Musik. Until 2013 Patrick Grahl was also awarded a scholarship by the Friedrich Ebert Foundation in Bonn.
