Austriacki tenor studiował pod kierunkiem Brigitte Fassbaender,wcześniej kształcił się jako sopran chłopięcy u Howarda Armana,który wprowadził go w świat muzyki. W 2007 r. artysta został odznaczony Eberhard-Wächter-Medaille przyznawanym przez Wiener Staatsoper.

Martin  był członkiem Tiroler Landestheater w Innsbrucku, zanim w sezonie 2011/12 dołączył do zespołu Oper Frankfurt. Występował gościnnie jako Tamino w Czarodziejskim flecie Mozarta w Opernhaus Zürich, zadebiutował jako Brighella w Ariadnie na Naksos R. Straussa pod dyrekcją Daniela Hardinga i zaśpiewał rolę Ferranda w Così fan tutte Mozarta na Salzburger Festspiele w 2012 i 2013 r. Ponadto gościł w wiedeńskim Theater an der Wien i regularnie powraca na scenę Semperoper Dresden.

W sezonie 2019/20 pojawił się jako Tamino (Semperoper Dresden), Narraboth w nowej inscenizacji Salome R. Straussa (Theater an der Wien) i jako Rosillion w Wesołej wdówce Lehára (Volksoper Wien), jak też pierwszy raz śpiewał na Glyndebourne Festival. Ponownie wystąpił także – z pianistą Geroldem Huberem i w nowym programie – w londyńskiej Wigmore Hall i na Schubertiade w Hohenems. Można go było usłyszeć również
podczas koncertów w Monachium, Linzu i Kaiserslautern.

Martin Mitterrutzner wykonuje szeroki repertuar, począwszy od dzieł Bacha i Händla po Brittena i współczesnych kompozytorów jak Sven-David Sandström. Zdobył uznanie jako interpretator pieśni, występując wraz z pianistą Geroldem Huberem w Oper Frankfurt, Kölner Philharmonie, podczas Heidelberger Frühling i Schubertiade w Schwarzenbergu.

The Austrian tenor was trained by Brigitte Fassbaender and introduced to the world of music and educated from an early age as a treble by Howard Arman. In 2007, he was awarded the Eberhard Wächter Medal of the Vienna State Opera.

Martin Mitterrutzner was member of the Tiroler Landestheater in Innsbruck before joining the ensemble of Oper Frankfurt in the 2011/12 season. He guested as Tamino in Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte at the Opernhaus Zürich, made his debut as Brighella in R. Strauss’s Ariadne auf Naxos under Daniel Harding and sang Ferrando in Mozart’s Così fan tutte both at the Salzburg Festival in 2012 and 2013. Furthermore, he guest performed at the Theater an der Wien and returns regularly on the stage of Semperoper Dresden.

The 2019/20 season sees his return to Semperoper Dresden as Tamino, star as Narraboth in a new staging of Salome by R. Strauss at the Theater an der Wien and as Rosillion in Lehár’s The Merry Widow at the Vienna’s Volksoper as well as debut at the Glyndebourne Festival. Furthermore, he returns – together with Gerold Huber and a new recital programme – to London’s Wigmore Hall and the Schubertiade in Hohenems and can be heard in various concerts in Munich, Linz, or Kaiserslautern.

Martin Mitterrutzner sings a broad repertoire, ranging from works by Bach and Handel to Britten and contemporary composers such as Sven-David Sandström. He has already managed to achieve an excellent reputation as a Lied singer and has performed recitals together with pianist Gerold Huber at the Oper Frankfurt, Kölner Philharmonie, Heidelberger Frühling, and the Schubertiade in Schwarzenberg.
