Adrian Foltyn jest absolwentem Akademii Muzycznej we Wrocławiu w klasie Stanisława Krupowicza. Jego utwory były wykonywane na krajowych i zagranicznych festiwalach muzyki nowej, m.in. Musica Polonica Nova, Musica Electronica Nova i The Dutch Music Days, oraz prezentowane na antenie Radio Netherlands Music, Deutschlandradio Kultur i Programu 2 Polskiego Radia. Jest laureatem zagranicznych i krajowych konkursów kompozytorskich, m.in. Konkursu Holenderskiej Fundacji „Yo” za Euphonicum na chór i orkiestrę symfoniczną (2004), I nagrody w Konkursie Młodych Kompozytorów im. Tadeusza Bairda (2005) za Son’tasy 2.1 na dwa fortepiany i media elektroniczne oraz III nagrody w Konkursie Kompozytorskim ZAiKS za Koncert fortepianowy (2008). Obecnie Adrian Foltyn finalizuje dysertację doktorską pt. Neurokognitywistyczny model dysonansowości i jego zastosowanie w analizie dzieła muzycznego. Praca ta jest uwieńczeniem zainteresowań kompozytora mechanizmami percepcji muzyki, wyjaśnianymi zarówno poprzez nauki ścisłe (neurofizjologia, akustyka, matematyka), jak i społeczne (psychologia muzyki).

Adrian Foltyn graduated from the Wrocław Music Academy under Stanisław Krupowicz. His works were performed at new music festivals both at home and abroad, e.g. Musica Polonica Nova, Musica Electronica Nova, The Dutch Music Days as well as broadcasted on the Radio Netherlands Music, Deutschlandradio Kultur, and Polish Radio 2. He is the award winner of multiple national and international composers’ competitions, among others, the International Composers’ Competition of the Dutch Foundation Yo for Euphonicum for choir and symphonic orchestra, 1th Prize at Tadeusz Baird Competition for Young Composers (2005) for Son’tasy 2.1 for two pianos and live electronic media, as well as the 3rd Prize at the Composers’ Competition of the Polish Society of Authors and Composers for Piano concert (2008). Adrian Foltyn is currently writing his doctoral dissertation Neurocognitive Model of Dissonance and its Application in Music Theory. The dissertation is a culmination of extensive research on the mechanisms of music perception studied through the lens of both the pure sciences (neurophysiology, acoustics, and mathematics) and the social sciences (music psychology).
