Urodził się w 1961 r. w Galatas, Missolungi. Uzyskał stopień doktora po ukończeniu studiów na Wydziale Muzycznym Uniwersytetu Jońskiego. Jest absolwentem Akademii Pedagogicznej Maraslio i Wydziału Wychowania Fizycznego i Sportu na Uniwersytecie w Atenach. Brał udział w licznych konferencjach pedagogicznych i muzykologicznych, a także międzynarodowych kursach mistrzowskich w Grecji i za granicą. W ramach działalności pedagogicznej opublikował 7 tomów serii Teoria i praktyka muzyki kościelnej i zredagował pierwsze udokumentowane pisma Trzech Mistrzów (The Holy and Great Monastery of Vatopedi Publications) wraz z dziełami Konstantinosa Priggosa (wydawnictwo Apostoliki Diakonia). Otrzymał stypendium, dzięki któremu uczestniczył w trzyletnim projekcie badawczym „Bizantyjski Mistrz Ioannis Koukouzelis” Alexander S. Onassis Public Benefit Foundation, pod opieką naukową Lykourgosa Angelopoulosa. Uczył śpiewu bizantyjskiego w Akademii Zoodochos Pigi, w szkole muzycznej Świętego Kościoła Metropolitalnego Fthiotidy i w Konserwatorium w Atenach. Służył jako kantor w kilku kościołach Attyki.
Od 1981 r. jest członkiem Greek Byzantine Choir, a od 2014 – dyrygentem tego zespołu. Ponadto aktywnie angażuje się w badania dotyczące tradycji pisanej i ustnej śpiewu i muzyki kościelnej, ich interpretacji i możliwość wykorzystania zdobytej wiedzy do celów dydaktycznych.
Georgios Konstantinou pełni funkcję dyrektora programu szkolenia zawodowego i dalszej edukacji w zakresie muzyki kościelnej. Program działa od 2003 r., a w jego ramach przyznawane są stypendia Greckiego Instytutu św. Maksyma Wyznawcy.

Georgios Konstantinou was born in Galatas, Messolonghi in 1961. He has a doctoral degree from the Department of Music Studies of Ionian University and is a graduate of the ‘Marasleion’ Pedagogical Academy and of the Faculty of Physical Education and Sport Science of University of Athens. He has participated in numerous musicological and pedagogical conferences and international masterclasses in Greece and abroad. His teaching activities include publishing 7 volumes of the series The Theory and Practice of Church Music and edited the first documented scripts of the Three Masters (The Holy and Great Monastery of Vatopedi Publications) along with the works of Konstantinos Priggos (Apostoliki Diakonia Publications). A scholarship was granted to him to participate in the three-year Research Project ‘The Byzantine Maistor Ioannis Koukouzelis’ of the Alexander S. Onassis Public Benefit Foundation, under the supervision of the Lykourgos Angelopoulos. He taught psaltic music at the ‘Live-Giving Spring of the Most Holy Theotokos’ School and at the School of the Metropolitan Diocese of Fthiotidos, as well as at the National Conservatory of Athens. He has served as a chanter in several churches of Attica.
Since 1981, he is a member of the Greek Byzantine Choir and in 2014 became the Choir’s Conductor. In addition, he is actively involved in research regarding the study of written and oral traditions of the Ecclesiastical Chant and Music, its musical interpretation and the usage of its results for teaching purposes.
Georgios Konstantinou is the Head of the Ecclesiastical Music Training and Further Education Programme, operating since 2003 with scholarships granted today by the Saint Maximus the Greek Institute.
