Brytyjski dyrygent Duncan Ward uważany jest za jednego z najbardziej wszechstronnych i obiecujących dyrygentów młodego pokolenia. Regularnie współpracuje z czołowymi światowymi orkiestrami i teatrami operowymi. Od września 2021 r. będzie głównym dyrygentem Philharmonie Zuidnederland, jednocześnie piastując do 2023 r. stanowisko dyrektora muzycznego Mediterranean Youth Orchestra przy Festiwalu d'Aix-en-Provence.
W ostatnim czasie współpracował m.in. z takimi orkiestrami jak Staatskapelle Dresden, Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks, London Symphony Orchestra, Orchestre de Paris oraz Orchestre de la Suisse Romande. Zadyrygował także niemiecką premierą Hamleta Bretta Deana w Operze w Kolonii. Jest szczególnie ceniony za szeroki repertuar, wykonywany zarówno z zespołami instrumentów historycznych, jak Balthasar Neumann Choir & Ensemble, czy z grupami specjalizującymi się w wykonawstwie muzyki współczesnej, takimi jak Ensemble Modern i Birmingham Contemporary Music Group.
Plany na najbliższy sezon zakładają debiuty z Rotterdam Philharmonic, Moscow Philharmonic oraz z Oper du Rhin w Strasburgu nowej produkcji Così fan tutte. Poza działalnością dyrygencką, Duncan Ward jest również uznanym i odnoszącym sukcesy kompozytorem, a jego kompozycje publikowane są w katalogu „Peters Edition”. W 2005 roku został laureatem BBC Young Composer of the Year, a jego ostatnie utwory wykonywane były przez Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra, Magdalenę Koženę, London Symphony Orchestra i The Sixteen.

The British conductor Duncan Ward is considered one of the most versatile and promising conductors of the younger generation. He works regularly with the world's leading orchestras and opera houses and will serve as chief conductor of the philharmonie zuidnederland from September 2021 and until 2023 as musical director of the Mediterranean Youth Orchestra at the“Festival d’Aix-en-Provence.
Recent highlights of his work have been his engagements with the Staatskapelle Dresden and the Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks, collaborations with the London Symphony Orchestra and the Orchestre de Paris, the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande and the German premiere of Brett-Dean's celebrated “Hamlet” at the Cologne Opera. He is particularly acclaimed for his broad repertoire, equally at home with period instrument ensembles such as Balthasar Neumann, as with contemporary music specialists including Ensemble Modern and Birmingham Contemporary Music Group.
Debuts with the Rotterdam Philharmonic, the Moscow Philharmonic and at Oper du Rhin in Strasbourg for a new production of Cosi fan tutte are scheduled for the current and the coming season. In addition to his activity as a conductor, Duncan Ward is also a successful and recognised composer and his compositions are published in the "Peters Edition". In 2005 he was the winner of the BBC Young Composer of the Year, and recently his works have been performed by the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra, Magdalena Kozena, the LSO and The Sixteen.
