Urodzony w Rosario argentyńsko-holenderski kierownik muzyczny i badacz studiował dyrygenturę chóralną i kompozycję w Konserwatorium w Amsterdamie. Jego główne zainteresowania to badanie i interpretacja repertuaru wicekrólów hiszpańsko-amerykańskich. Jest autorem książki Bailes, Tonadas & Cachuas – La música del Códice Trujillo del Perú en el siglo XVIII (Muzyka Kodeksu Trujillo del Perú w XVIII w.). Specjalizował się także w polifonii renesansowej i notacji menzuralnej tego okresu.
Jest założycielem zespołu Música Temprana, z którym występował na ważnych festiwalach i estradach w Europie, Ameryce Północnej i Południowej. Dzięki pracy z tym zespołem stał się jednym z najwybitniejszych na świecie wykonawców repertuaru z czasów wicekrólów hiszpańsko-amerykańskich, a jego albumy zostały docenione przez krytyków. Jako barokowy gitarzysta, wokalista i perkusista, był związany, oprócz Música Temprana, z kilkoma renomowanymi zespołami, takimi jak Holland Baroque, La Sfera Armoniosa, Ensemble Elyma, L’Arpeggiata. Poprowadził takie opery, jak La liberazione di Ruggiero F. Caccini, Gli amori d’Apollo e di Daphne Cavallego, Dydona i Eneasz oraz The Fairy Queen Purcella, wystawił komedię madrygałową Il Festino Adriana Banchieriego oraz Ensaladas Matea Flechy. Dyrygował 40-głosowym motetem Spem in alium Thomasa Tallisa podczas koncertu inaugurującego Festiwal Muzyki Dawnej w Utrechcie. W Królewskim Konserwatorium w Hadze prowadzi zajęcia z polifonii i jako wykładowca jest regularnie zapraszany przez konserwatoria w Amsterdamie, Utrechcie, Tilburgu, Lipsku i Buenos Aires. Uczy także studentów dyrygentury chóralnej w ramach Kurt Thomas Cursus w Holandii. Adrián Rodríguez Van der Spoel is an Argentine-Dutch music director andresearcher, born in Rosario, Argentina. He studied choral conducting and composition at the Amsterdam Conservatory. His main interests are the study and interpretation of the vice-regal Spanish-American repertoire. He is the author ofthe book Bailes, Tonadas & Cachuas – The music of the 18th century Codex Trujillo del Perú. He has also specialised in Renaissance polyphony and the mensural notation of that period. He is the founder of the ensemble MúsicaTemprana, with which he has performed at important festivals and venues in Europe, South and North America. His worktogether with this ensemble has placed him as one of the most outstanding performers worldwide, of the Spanish-American vice-royal repertoire, and his albums have been praised by critics. In addition to Música Temprana, as a Baroque guitarist, singer and percussionist, he has been linked to several renowned ensembles such as Holland Baroque, La Sfera Armoniosa, Ensemble Elyma, L’Arpeggiata.
He conducted several operas, such as La liberazione di Ruggiero by F. Caccini,Gli amori d’Apollo e di Daphne by Cavalli, Purcell’s Dido & Aeneas and The Fairy Queen, the staged madrigal comedy Il Festino by Adriano Banchieri and the Ensaladas by Mateo Flecha. He conducted the 40-part motet Spem in alium by Thomas Tallis, during the opening of the Utrecht Early Music Festival. He teaches polyphony at the Royal Conservatory of The Hague, and is regularly invited to teach at the conservatories of Amsterdam, Utrecht, Tilburg, Leipzig, and Buenos Aires. He also teaches choral conducting at the Kurt Thomas Cursus in the Netherlands. Adrián Rodríguez Van der Spoel and his ensemble Música Temprana are artists in-residence at the Utrecht Festival Early Music 2024.
